Top 5 New Products at Guitarbitz Guitar Shop -

At Guitarbitz we're ALWAYS thinking of new things that we think you'll love and we've recently had lots of awesome new gear through the door! Check out our top 5 new products so far this year and have a little read about what they can do! These are in no particular order, we love them all the same!

1) AKG Professional Headphones

We LOVE pro headphones. They're fashionable, cool, they make your music sound 10x better and they're excellent value for money. We've recently become a stockist of AKG pro headphones here at Guitarbitz and we have to say, they are incredible. Even the cheapest ones at £33.95 really kick some butt!

If you've only ever used your iPhone earphones then you won't believe the clarity and quality that Pro headphones give you, it's quite amazing. If you're into recording, mixing or you're doing any sort of work with music then a good set of 'cans' is an absolute must. So, we recommend a good pair of AKGs! Click to view our great range of AKG Headphones now!

2) VOX Analogue Valve Amps

Well, it seems Vox have gone and done it yet again! They just can't stop bringing out amazing little practice amps and we love it!

The all new Vox Analogue Valve range of amps are simply awesome. They are a no nonsense, simple tone-orientated amp that give some blisteringly good sounds. From classic Vox cleans, to crunch, to full on metal madness! They really are great fun.

They have a valve preamp and power amp section so you get a very authentic valve tone at home at low volumes. Unlike the Valvetronix range these only have a few effects. Delay, mod and reverb... And that's all you need, right? The simple approach really makes for a good, clean tone. With the ability to change the bias settings of the valves in the amp your ideal tone is at your fingertips! Very cool and great value for money starting at just £199.

3) Vintage V72 Semi Hollow Guitars

We all know Vintage make some top notch, excellent value guitars. If you didn't know this then you should! Go and check them out now! See our whole range of vintage guitars here: Vintage Guitars at Guitarbitz.

Anyway, these two beauties pictured below (beware, pure guitar porn) are two of the finest looking guitars we've seen, I mean, just look at them!

They are the Vintage V72FTB and the Vintage V72HFTB, and they rock. Starting at just £259 you really can't go wrong! They sound excellent, a nice big resonant tone thanks to the semi hollow body and F-Hole. Rock, Jazz, Blues, Country... Whatever you want to play they sound great. I would seriously recommend having a go on one of these babies!

Read more about them here: Vintage V72 Guitars

4) Ibanez SR305E 5-String Bass Guitar

We took a little visit to the UK distributor of Ibanez Guitars in the UK earlier this year and we got to try out their whole range. When selecting new models to stock in our shop we came across the Ibanez SR305E 5 String. This guitar just stood out, great looks, great sound, amazing price.

We asked how it could only be £258, and they replied with... 'It could be much more expensive, but Ibanez would rather have the BEST 5 String bass in Europe at this price point than anyone else'.

And this is true, it really is the finest 5 stringer about at this price. With active electronics and lots of EQ controls to shape your tone you're getting a HUGE amount of guitar for your money! The metallic finish is also pretty damn sweet! Stunning!

I urge you to read more about it on our website! Read more now!

5) Orange Dual Terror 30w Valve Amp Head

Orange are probably our favourite amp brand here at Guitarbitz, they just rock so hard! The Orange Dual Terror is one at the top of our amp list. This thing is a complete ROCK machine that sounds incredible. Having used this amp at loud rock gigs I can vouch for it personally that it is one of the best amps I've tried! If you're looking for a straight up, loud rock amp then this is an amazing contender for you and I urge you to try it out!

With two channels you've got rhythm and lead settings and thanks to the switchable 30w/15w/7w power settings you can use it at any size gig big or small. In the lunchbox amp style it's super compact and easy to transport. What an amp, get one now, go on, you know you want to!

Top 10 Guitars under £300 at Guitarbitz Guitar Shop

Top 10 Guitars Under £300

When you first sit down to play the Sigma GME, there are a few things you notice: 1. “Wow! I didn’t know I could play this well.” 2. "Oooo, is that a solid top?! Nice! I bet it’s expensive." 3. "How much! No way. Only £195!"

This Sigma may not be flashy, but when it comes to a great playing guitar at a great price, flashy is not what you need. Somehow, this solid top electro is able to boast a sub £200 price tag while playing and sounding like something over twice the price.

The top is made from solid Sitka Spruce that gives a juicy full range of tone, aided by the mahogany its back and sides. This sound can then replicated seamlessly through the built in Sigma pre-amp, so you can be guaranteed a perfect sound for any gigging or recording.

Now. The king of the sub-£300 electric guitars... The Yamaha Pacifica.
Having been in production for over two decades, Yamaha have had plenty of time to tinker and tweak this guitar to get it just right.

With its HSS pickup configuration the Pacifica is able to boast a full range of sounds from the bright and cheerful to thick and grungy. For a guitar of this price, it is excellently stable, so you can set your action as low as you like without any resistance. As well as having great playability, one of my favourite aspects of the guitar is its look. The natural satin finish is smooth to the touch and looks amazing.

This guitar is perfect for players of all abilities, wether you’re looking for your first electric guitar, or a back up gigging guitar. This will suit you fine.

The APX 500 is one of the top selling electro acoustic guitars, and for good reason. There are few faults to pick out with this guitar excluding perhaps, the plastic around the sound hole. This guitar boasts a solid Spruce top and a pretty great preamp system that has full EQ adjustability.

Being quite a thin folk guitar, the sound that is produced from this guitar is quite amazing. It is able to project a full range of tones as well as being gorgeously resonant. This is an easy guitar to play and is just as comfortable in the hands of a beginner as it is on stage.

4. Squier classic vibe 50’s Tele

Modelled on THE original Telecaster, this guitar really gives you that old-school vintage feel but without the price of buying a vintage guitar.  It feels, plays and sounds exactly as a Tele should. Aside from the fact that this is a new guitar, there is little about the sound that isn’t vintage.

The AINiCo5 magnet single coil pickups are really capable of driving your amp as well as producing those classic jangly tones, so you can reproduce all those classic Tele tones for a fraction of the price.

Ibanez have always been great at creating guitars that are easy to play and this one is no exception. No matter what you’re playing, this guitar poses zero resistance allowing you to bend, lick and solo to your heart's content. A full range of sounds is possible thanks to the HSS pickup arrangement but this guitar really comes into its own when you turn up the gain.

This guitar is best described as ‘cool’. With its curved Strat style body, its classic Ibanez headstock but most of all that gorgeous flamed Transparent Grey Burst finish. Exquisite.

Who knew such a wide range of tones was possible from a single pickup? This Les Paul Jr. copy boasts fantastic playability with a gorgeous design that is capable of tackling many different styles.

At only £195 this is one of the best-priced guitars on the list, making it perfect for beginners or experienced players. Thanks to the single P90 style pickup it's super easy to use, just plug in, turn up and you've got a great sounding instrument!

This Ibanez AEW21VK electro acoustic is just as much a work of art as it is a great guitar. A lot of care has been taken to make this guitar look awesome. Just take a look at the unique cut away design or the beautiful rosette design. However, this guitar is not just a pretty face, expressing a great tone with very little effort needed from the player.

As well as being a great guitar, it also comes with a high quality Fishman/Ibanez pickup preamp system perfect for any gigging or recording.

This electro acoustic guitar packs a lot in for a small price. With a full tone, easy playability and a stunning pickup sound, value for money is right here.

Whether you're a beginner needing your first instrument or an intermediate this model is perfect for around the home, at lessons and even at gigs. With an easy to use, no nonsense pickup you'll have no problems on the stage with this one.

The Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar, here in a fresh Olympic White, is a stunning electric guitar that just ticks all the boxes! With two-tone circuits, duncan designed pickups and fantastic playability it's a music making machine that sounds great clean, crunchy or overdriven!

As well as looking great this guitar is able to produce such a huge range of tone, so you really get a lot of bang for your buck.

This is one of our best selling acoustics here at Guitarbitz, and for good reason. Easy on the fingers, easy on the eyes, and easy on the pocket. Not only is this one of the best guitars you can get for under £300, it has won guitar magazine’s award for ‘best acoustic guitar under £1000.’

Not many guitars at this price are able to boast a solid mahogany top with such high quality finish. You can really tell that care has been taken to produce an instrument that you want to play.
Being a folk size, this guitar is perfect for any young players out there looking to get started on the acoustic guitar, not to mention its easy playability and great tone.

Based on Peter Green's Gibson Les Paul, the V100PGM features a stunning flame Maple top, reverse neck pickup and the two style control knob configuration. It looks amazing but it also does the job in terms of sound, feel and playability. With punchy tones clean or driven it simply ticks all the boxes if you wan that classic Les Paul tone!

Martin Monel Acoustic Guitar Strings

We've recently listed some new strings by Martin that are supposed sound how acoustic guitar strings were back in the day. The Martin Retro range of strings are made from Monel, a Nickel & Copper alloy, they look quite like electric guitar strings and have a vintage appearance. We thought that we would give them a go to see if they did what they said on the packet.

Martin Retro Monel Acoustic Guitar Strings
Martin say these strings brings out the unique woody tone from your guitar and that they have complex harmonics. Hear your guitar like you've never heard it before! Sounds great but do they actually do what they say?

Well, after a quick re-string on a Martin Dreadnought Junior, it has to be said we are pretty impressed! These strings are full, balanced, powerful with a stunning tone unlike what we're used to by using either Phosphor Bronze or 80/20 Bronze. And sure enough the harmonics are pretty awesome. Pluck the low E string and just listen to how the note develops... Complex harmonics? Yes. It's pretty amazing. It certainly is a new sound for your acoustic guitar that we haven't achieved using Bronze.

Monel is also less susceptible to corrosion and such has a longer life even though they aren't a coated string. With a natural high strength in this Nickel-Copper alloy they are also less likely to break! A very, very good set of strings indeed and well worth a try! Just check out the quotes below!

"I never thought I'd see the day when I could put Martin Monel strings back on my D-28. Welcome back, old friend, I've missed you." - Tony Rice.

"I play Retros for the robust tone and great durability of Monel. These are my personal string gauges, suitable for standard and altered tunings." - Laurence Juber.

NAMM 2016: DigiTech Trio+ Plus Band Generator & Looper Pedal -

A while back DigiTech released the 'Trio', a guitar pedal that creates a backing track based on the chords you play into it, and we thought it was pretty darn awesome!

Now though, (drum roll please), DigiTech have released a brand new version that's geared up for extra functionality and it even features a looper (something we wished the other one had!).

Before you would play your chord sequence into the Trio and it would generate a drum and bass backing track. Now you can create your backing track AND loop your chord sequence as well so it becomes a fully comprehensive, extremely convincing backing track that's created in seconds! It really is AWESOME!

Whether you're simply playing at home and want to jam along to your own backing music or if you're a pro, playing a show to your fans this magical device really will transform the way you play! Personally, we love it for practicing, when you're trying to write that killer guitar solo you need the backing music behind it. With the TRIO Plus just play the backing chords, loop it round with some drums and bass and you've got effectively a blank canvas in which to colour with your sparkly solo playing! Cool, right?

Certainly one of our favourite new things from NAMM 2016!

NAMM 2016: Marshall Release New Digital Amp Series 'CODE' -

Well, it seems that we've been waiting for Marshall to pull something out of the bag for a while now. Yes, we've had the Astoria range and other boutique / hand-wired amps but nothing in the 'amp modelling' category. Marshall tested the water a few years back with their JMD series amplifiers which allowed users to model classic Marshall sounds, but it never really took off. As technology progressed and progressed they just didn't seem to want to utilise it... Until now.

So, here we have the all new, for NAMM 2016, the Marshall CODE series. And, to be fair, they look pretty darn nice! They are all modelling amplifiers... Yes, it had to happen sometime as other brands such as Fender, Blackstar or Vox are doing well with their popular modelling combos. Could the CODE be a competitor to, say, the Fender Mustang, Blackstar ID:CORE or the Vox VTX? I think the answer could be yes.

Reading up on Marshall's website certainly gives you the impression that they're extremely proud of their latest creation. Read the quote below:

So, we can expect some decent amp models of their biggest and best since Marshall began! If I could get a JTM45, JCM800 and a JVM all in one small combo then I certainly would!

Some of the CODE's 'MST preamps' include:

  • JTM45 2245
  • 1962 Bluesbreaker
  • 1959SLP Plexi
  • JCM800 2203
  • JCM2555 Silver Jubilee
  • JCM2000
  • DSL100
  • JVM410H
  • And more...
Already it's shaping up to look like an AMAZING bit of kit. You could cover any tone from AC/DC, Clapton, Hendrix, Joe Bonamassa and more!

CODE also lets you choose which type of valve you want to model and which classic speaker cabinet! Choose from EL34, 5881, EL84 or 6L6 power amp styles. Then choose a cab from 1960, 1960V, 1960AX, 1936V, 1974X and more!

If these babies sound as good as they look, Marshall could certainly be onto a winner here! But, it doesn't stop there with 24 pro quality effects it's got everything you could want including: distortions, compressors, wah, pitch shifters, chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo, delay, reverb and much more!

With Bluetooth and USB connectivity it becomes more than just a guitar amp but a music player, a recording interface and more! An excellent first look at what appears to be a fantastic line of amplifiers!

New Sigma Guitars at Guitarbitz Guitar Shop!

Have you heard of the acoustic guitar brand, Sigma? If not then you most definitely should have! They offer some of the best acoustic guitars we've tried in a long time and what's great is they are cheap which gives you amazing value for money. Let me make this clear... they're NOT cheap in terms of quality, they just don't cost a lot to buy! Quality and attention to detail are absolutely supreme which yields an amazing end result for you, the player. They specialise in electro acoustic models too and of course they all use brilliant Fishman systems.

You may recognise them to look very, very similar to another famous brand called Martin, and they do! They are allowed to produce replicas or copies of Martin guitars but as they're made in the far east rather than the Americas the prices are far, far cheaper!

From dreadnoughts, to jumbos to folk shapes and '000' styles, their range is extensive and Guitarbitz now have a good range for sale both online and in our shop near Bath. Of course with an online order you'll receive the guitar the next working day for free if you live in the UK!

Blackstar ID:CORE BEAM Bluetooth 4-in-1 Guitar Amplifier!

If you haven't heard of the all new Blackstar ID:CORE BEAM yet then you're missing out as this is without doubt one of the best guitaring gadgets of the year! This Bluetooth 4-in-1 amplifier lets you use your electric guitar just like normal with all the classic features like gain voices, ISF, built in effects and USB connectivity, but on top of this you can also plug in your acoustic guitar, bass and stream music to it via Bluetooth!

With specific channels for the different instruments you can get a brilliant sound for each. If you took an acoustic guitar or bass and plugged it into a regular electric guitar amp it wouldn't sound overly great, but here simply press the voice button down and you have yourself a quality little acoustic amplifier! Same goes with the bass, there's two bass voices and surprisingly these have a lot of bottom end and punch, which is amazing considering there are only two little 10w speakers!

This little box of tricks is stereo, it has two speakers, making the on board effects beautifully stunning! The 'Super Wide Stereo' configuration is also fantastic when listening to your music. A really nice feature to have.

It has to be noted that the quality of streamed music via Bluetooth is very, very good. It's hard to buy a standalone Bluetooth speaker that sounds this good for this cheap! It goes pretty darn loud too and doesn't succumb to distortion or any unwanted noises. A beautiful dynamic range lets your instruments and music sound at its best, a nice punchy bass end and a bright, crisp high end.

Like a lot of Blackstar modeling amps you can also plug it into your computer and use the INSIDER software to explore a vast range of sounds! It's hard to believe that you can get all these features in one compact 20watt unit. A very cool product by one of the best amp brands in world today! This super cool gadget is available for sale online and in our store at Guitarbitz Guitar Shop, come in and see us give it a try!

For more Blackstar goodness check out our range here:

New In: Fender David Lozeau Art Stratocaster!

If you love something a bit whacky then listen up as you'll love this new Fender David Lozeau Art Stratocaster in the stunning Sacred Heart finish! Under the hood it's a simple, made in Mexico, Standard Strat which makes it nice and cheap but it's got one of the best paint jobs we've seen in a while, probably since the Fender 'Swirl' Telecaster! Fans of bright, cartoon, comic book style drawings will love this guitar, it's so vibrant and will certainly catch the eyes of your audience!

This electric guitar sounds just as a Strat should, excellent for blues, rock, jazz or any style you want to throw at it. The neck and neck-middle positions are so punchy yet smooth and creamy, very SRV sounding! While the bridge and bridge-middle have that classic snappy, treble tone that's great for power chords and even a bit of country!

We've made a tiny little video just a sneak peek because this is an instrument that needs to be seen in person, pictures just don't do it justice! It's available to for sale online and also in our store so come along and give it a try before you buy!

An absolutely stunning guitar that won't be around for long!
